About the Women Encouraged Podcast

Because Women Encouraged is all about connecting women with encouragement from the Bible, giving the hope of the Gospel, we are seeking to provide that opportunity through the podcast. The WE podcast brings you resources and interviews with other women who love the Lord, love His word, and who are pursuing a life of faithfulness in Him. The podcast is hosted by friends Bethany Barendregt and Brittany Robertson, who are leaders in the Women Encouraged online community, and involved with the local conference based in Alberta, Canada.

The WE podcast hosts:

Bethany Barendregt is wife to Alex and mama to Jordan, Jackson, Samuel, Elliana, and Audrey. They live in Alberta, Canada where Bethany homeschools and works from home as founder and creative director at Women Encouraged. She is passionate about Bible literacy and loves writing to share Scripture truth and gospel hope for our everyday life challenges. Bethany is deeply grateful for the opportunities God has provided in her life to welcome friends and share gospel-centered fellowship. You can connect with her at her blog or on Instagram @bethanybarendregt.

Brittany Robertson lives in Grande Prairie, Alberta with her husband Jade and her two daughters Elizabeth and Paisley. She spends her days homeschooling her girls and writing for her blog Oh My Dear Blog.

You can connect with Brittany on Instagram @ohmydearblog or through her blog. She shares regularly about her journey of learning to trust Christ with all her hopes, dreams, insecurities, and fears – and that the greatest adventure in life is a relationship with Jesus, who continually leads us into truth and transforms our hearts.

Hi Grace! We have applied to Spotify but historically it takes a long time for podcasts to be approved with them. We are hopeful, though, and really appreciate you checking about that. You can also find us through Google Play. Blessings! Bethany

  • “May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
⠀⠀
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
⠀⠀
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
⠀⠀
For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ⠀⠀
2 Peter‬ ‭1:2-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  • “Most of us dislike waiting. It’s uncomfortable, inconvenient, and usually doesn’t work with our schedules. We desire what we want, when we want it, regardless of any good reasons that might exist for not getting it right away. We assume that instant gratification feels better than prolonged fulfillment – especially if the time in between involves any amount of hardship.
⠀⠀
This preference for expediency conflicts with how God works. For one thing, time doesn’t apply to Him. The Alpha and Omega created the world with a structured beginning and ending, and yet, being un-created and infinite, He transcends those constraints.
⠀⠀
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God” (Psalm 90:2 ESV).
⠀⠀
Because He is eternal, God doesn’t need to hurry or wait. He is unbound by time, yet He works within it to accomplish His purposes. His plan for salvation unfolded over hundreds of years, a redemptive thread running from Old to New Testament, propelling all of humanity toward the appointed times of Christ’s birth, death, resurrection, and coming return.”
⠀⠀
Jenn Hesse @jennmhesse shares with us today on the WE blog about waiting with hope and entrusting our desires to God and His timing. You’ll find the link to her article in our profile. ❤️

  • “Every year as the end of December approaches, many women (like myself) begin to go into a tailspin. We are flooded with people resolving to drop ten pounds, read the Bible in a year, be more intentional in their marriages, or keeping a more simplified schedule. These are all good things!
⠀⠀
Christ wants us to be good stewards of what God has given us and He desires for us to bring Him glory with these gifts (Colossians 3:23-24). However, we can stumble in these goals when we attempt to accomplish them in our own strength and for our own glory. We place our value in a checklist and our identity in the successful completion of that checklist.
⠀⠀
And if we fail in our goals, we can be filled with bitterness and frustration. How can we combat these tendencies in our lives? And how then should we approach making these resolutions in light of the Gospel?”
⠀⠀
Read the rest of this great encouragement from Jessica Head @jesshead30 on the WE blog today. You’ll find the link in our profile. ❤️
