Today, we talk with singer and songwriter Caroline Cobb about the Bible's big story and how we never outgrow the gospel. In 2011, Caroline gave herself a goal to write a song for every book of the Bible in a year. That year of writing set in motion a new passion to tell the stories of scripture through music, faithfully and creatively. Caroline shares about the way knowing the Bible's big story informs the way we see the world, and how it transforms the way we approach God.

Caroline Cobb is a singer-songwriter with a deep love for the Bible’s big story. In 2011, Caroline gave herself a goal to write a song for every book of the Bible in a year. That year of writing set in motion a new passion to tell the stories of scripture through music, faithfully and creatively. Caroline’s latest album, a Home & a Hunger: Songs of Kingdom Hope, is a journey through Scripture, beginning with the fall in the Garden of Eden and the first “hunger pangs” in Genesis 3. The album takes the listener on a journey through redemptive history, with each song parachuting into a different biblical scene, and ends in Revelation when God will make His home with us forever.

Psalm 119:81 ESV – “My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.”
When we come to the word of God, we come to eat at a table that the Lord himself has prepared for us. He’s laid before us a never-ending feast in the pages of Scripture. It’s a table full of hope where we taste and see his goodness, and the mercy that has pursued us all our lives.
We come at his invitation, by his provision, not to simply know more about the Bible, but to know the God of the Bible well, to love him well with our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to obey him well in gratitude and joy.
In John 6, after Jesus fed the 5000, the crowd sought him out, and Jesus told them,
“For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:33-35 NASB)
Jesus will never fail to feed us. We find in Him the nourishing power for every area of our lives. And when we open the word of God, we are assured that we will never be given a stone when we come in faith to be fed by the bread of life.
